Petition information and privacy.
Erase The Prompt is an independent movement based in the United States. This notice explains how we handle information for our petition to music streaming platforms. Last updated November 1, 2026.
Campaign contact: erasetheprompt@gmail.com. The petition welcomes supporters worldwide who are at least 16 years old.
What the petition collects
The form asks for a first name, an optional last name, an email address, an optional comment, and confirmation that you are at least 16, support the three demands, and agree to public display of your first name and any comment. We record the submission time and the versions of the petition and consent statement. We do not ask for your birth date, postal address, or identity documents.
What other visitors can see
Accepted submissions contribute to the total immediately. The five most recent first names and optional comments, plus the three most recent non-empty comments, are displayed with dates. Email addresses and last names stay private.
One signature per email address
No email verification is required, and no signing email is sent. A signature is counted as soon as the form is accepted. The database allows one active signature per email address; differences in capitalization, surrounding spaces, and Gmail dot and plus aliases do not allow extra signatures. We do not verify inbox ownership or legal identity, and the total does not establish one unique person per signature.
Signing does not subscribe you to a newsletter. We use your email to prevent duplicate signatures and handle your support or removal requests. After signing, the page provides a private removal link. Save it and do not share it; only a hash of its token is stored in the petition database.
Hosting and bot protection
Cloudflare hosts the website and D1 petition database and provides the Turnstile bot check. It may process information in countries outside your own. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy. Signing does not send your details to an email delivery provider.
The petition’s rate limit stores a keyed digest of an IP address in a one-minute bucket, rather than storing the raw IP address in the petition database. Expired buckets are removed on subsequent requests and during hourly cleanup. Providers may separately process network information and operational logs under their own policies. Private removal tokens are kept out of website request URLs and are sent only in the body of an explicit removal request.
Use and retention
We use this information to maintain and substantiate the petition, prevent duplicate signatures and display the supporter feed. We do not sell signer information. We may share the petition text, aggregate totals, and the first names and comments already displayed publicly when presenting the campaign to streaming platforms. Private signer emails and last names will not be supplied to those platforms.
Accepted signatures are kept while the campaign is active, unless removed sooner at the signer’s request. Any abandoned records from the previous confirmation system are removed after seven days through hourly cleanup. We delete personal signature records from the active petition database within 90 days after the campaign closes. Limited copies may remain temporarily in provider backups under those providers’ retention settings.
Petition text and comments
The demands associated with a signature are preserved as petition version 1. If the demands change materially, a new version will be recorded. Do not include other people’s personal information or sensitive contact details in a public comment. You can contact us to report a comment or request a correction.
Questions or removal requests
Contact Erase The Prompt at erasetheprompt@gmail.com. To remove a signature, use the private removal link provided after signing and press Remove my signature, or email us from the address you used to sign. Previously issued removal links in petition emails also continue to work. Removal deletes the signature’s personal details from the active petition database and removes it from the public feed and count. Limited backup copies may remain temporarily under the hosting provider’s retention settings. Please avoid including private contact details or other sensitive information in a public comment.
You can also ask to access or correct your signature information. We may ask you to verify control of the signing email address before acting on a request. If a person under 16 has submitted information, please contact us so that we can remove it.
